WASSCE: Gov Emmanuel’s Aide warns teachers, pupils against malpractice

The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia have warned candidates sitting for the 2021 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to shun examination malpractices, noting that any pupil or teacher caught engaging in such would be punished by the Education ministry.

Akparawa Udofia gave the warning recently during his routine monitoring exercise in some schools in Abak, Essien Udium and Ikot Ekpene to ensure the examinations are conducted in line with laid down procedure.

Udeme also warned principals against collecting illegal fees from pupils in exit classes, noting that the ministry will investigate such school principals, while urging the public to report such cases immediately to the Ministry of Education, saying action would be taken promptly.

He urged school authorities and parents to encourage pupils to prepare well for any examination rather than look forward to a system that aids and abets cheating as such will reduce excellence and promote incompetence in our society.

He informed that the Akwa Ibom state government would not tolerate examination malpractices under any guise, warning that anyone caught in the crime would be punished accordingly.

The education administrator, while speaking at state college, Ikot Ekpene, Urges principals and centre supervisors to ensure that examinations environment are kept away from other activities to avoid distraction of any kind.
He particularly recommended the family of Mr David Ebom who donated a auditorium to the school and renovated same when it got damaged by a rainstorm in April 2021 to a magnificent standard.

He praised and lauded students of the College for their outstanding and excellent performance of practical on food and nutrition examination while assuring that
the school Clinic which was also damaged by the said rainstorm being under renovation, courtesy of the inter-ministerial direct labour of the state government will soon be completed.

Other schools visited during the monitoring exercise included Comprehensive Secondary school, Ediene Abak. Community High school, Afagha Obong, Abak.
Independence High school. Ukana. Essien Udim, among others.
