The women stakeholders in Uyo Local Government Area have empathized with victims of the thunderstorm disaster that recently ravaged Nung Asang/Anan communities in Ikono Ibom clan and Mbiabong Anyaya community in Etoi clan.
The delegation of women stakeholders led by the wife of the Chairman of Uyo, Mrs. Akaninyene Uwemedimo visited the affected communities on Friday, April 28, 2023, to share in the pains of the victims.
In their separate speeches, the women extended their deepest sympathies to the victims of the devastating incident that rendered some people homeless, but thanked God that no life was lost, noting that when there is life, there is hope for living.

The women, who donated relief materials during the visit, said that the gesture was to alleviate the plight of the affected women and prayed for healing upon those who sustained various degrees of injuries.
Responding, the women from the affected communities expressed gratitude to Uyo women for the gesture and assured them that the materials would get to the target beneficiaries accordingly.
The items donated included food items, clothing, toiletries, and cash gifts among others.

Present during the visit were; the wife of the Political Leader of Uyo, Mrs. Inemesit Uwah, wife of the Deputy Political Leader, Mrs. Uwem Eyo, Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Pastor Sylvia Ekong, Wife of the House Member-elect, Mrs. Idongesit Uwemedimo Asuquo, Commissioner, Assembly Service Commission, Dr. Roberta Edem, and the former Secretary of Uyo Council, Barr. Stella Udoh.

Others were the Former Chairman of the Council, Dr Grace Ekpo, Mrs. Ekaete Ebong Bassey, Obonganwan Mary Udokpo, Obonganwan Rose Stephen, Female Councillors—Hon. Praise Otuekong, Hon. Christiana Bassey, and Hon. Emeti Aniekan among others.
