The University of Uyo, have called on the government at all levels to improve on the leadership qualities of persons Manning various political office across the country, this was made know at the 70th inaugural lecture held at the 1000 seated capacity TETFUND Auditorium at the University main Campus, Nwaiba Uyo. 
Declaring the event opend, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Enefiok E. Essien (SAN) said that, the institution is one of the faster growing public University in Nigeria in area of research and manpower development,  Adding that with the limited resources in her possession the management of the University have utilize it effectively because of it sound leadership.The legal jurist called on the government to allocate more funds to educational sector, to help public University  in their research and procurement of academic materials and infrastructural development. 
Speaking on the Topic ” Fiscal Federalism And Development Hysteresis In Nigeria : Demystifying The Nuances ” prof. Emmanuel Onwioduokit of the department of Economic, Faculty of Social Science, while giving an insight to the topic explained that Leadership in Nigeria should be given to competent and educated people who understand the rudiments of governance and it functions instead of looking at religious and ethic sentiment. 
The Economic guru further explained that, federal government should focus on Power generation, Education, Healthcare and International Relations .His wish according to him is the core responsibility of any government. In his words “Political office should be given to someone with at least a university Degree to avoid deteriorating the system while urging government to implement true Federalism to foster development “.
The University Don maintaind that, Nigeria is one of the country with the lowest qualifications for someone to contest election in to any office, adding that such people lacks the experience and exposure to introduce policy and programme that would align the country with his contemporaries at the global scene. 
He Use the occasion to call for implementation of true federalism where power could be share between the central and it components political unit.The event attracted crème de la crème of the University community and distinguished scholars.
