….. Says education is the bedrock of development.
Akparawa Udeme Udofia, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, has called on students and teachers to see education as a bedrock for fundamental development by making excellence their watchword in order to achieve effective teaching and learning so as to key into Governor Udom Emmanuel’s drive in the sector.

Udofia gave the charge last Friday on his routine school monitoring exercise, explained that when children are well taught and exposed to the rudiments of learning, they would be able to attain loftier heights in their future endeavours and will shun violence and evade other societal vices.

Enunciating further, he decried a situation where half of the total number of teachers employed stayed away from school daily and wonder what will be the fate of those students and pupils, especially those in the certificate classes.

He maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration is doing its best in the sector to ensure students were trained with the 21st century requirements and requested teachers to reciprocate government’s efforts by re-dedicating their commitment towards this vision.
While addressing teachers at community secondary school, Asunna, Etinan, one of the schools visited, Udeme said “I enjoin you all to continue to strive for excellence despite the challenges, which I know are numerous. We can all partner with government, despite the scarce resources and give the best to the Akwa Ibom children.
I know most people regard teaching as a common job but I must assure you it is the best profession in the world, celebrated and loved by many, and as such, it is a great privilege to find you all among the great profession” Udofia explained.
In some other schools visited, the principals complained about decline in the school population which was attributed to either lack of uniform or desk. In his response, Akparawa Udofia appealed to parents to assist at some point as government can not do everything.

Elder Udofia who joined teachers and students of Community Secondary School Asuna, Etinan for their February Solemn Assembly was full of appreciation to God. He encouraged all teachers and students to always commit their ways and duties to God, while applauding the management of the school for continuing in the part carved by it predecessors.
