Senate Presidency: Coalition Group canvasses support for Sen. Akpabio

A political group under the auspices of Coalition of South South Community for United Nigeria Justice & Equity has thrown its weight behind the Senate Presidential ambition of the former Senate Minority Leader of the Federal Republic and Senator-elect of Akwa Ibom North West District, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.

Addressing a press conference in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, Chairman of the group, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh said since Nigeria’s Presidency resides in the South-West, it was expedient to zone the position to the South South region for the first time, saying ”South-East Region had enjoyed the position for five consecutive times over the years.

The one-time Chairman of Cross River Basin Development Authority said that Akpabio had made huge political sacrifices for the party; hence he should be rewarded and supported for the position of the 10th President of the Senate.

He averred that, senator Akpabio has build a strong political foundation in all the offices he holds sway, starting from when he was a commissioner, governor, senator and Minister.

Eyiboh described Senator Akpabio as an asset manager, who has the cognate experience to galvanise the executive and the legislative arms for a better Nigeria, having demonstrated good leadership prowess.

He further informed that senator Akpabio is a round peg in a round hole, who had demonstrated loyalty to the Tinubu presidential project through his support and commitment during the general election and is best suited to head the 10th Senate.

The former parliamentarian noted that South South region is yet to benefit from the priority list of the government, plead with the national leadership of the party, senators/House of Reps members elect to give the region the privilege through the person of senator Akpabio.

flanked by other members of the coalition, he described Tinubu as enterprise manager, head hunter, talent coach who can break prejudices and does not believe where he comes from, but believes in one Nigeria to pilot the affairs of the country.

Eyiboh noted that as a group that totally trusts in a conciliatory, equitable and cohesive Nigerian State, they have resolved to rally around a trusted, tested and capable hand by settling for a man who has paid the necessary dues of nation building, and he is no other but Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
