As the new academic session begins, The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia has applauded school administrators for turning up in good numbers on the first day of resumption despite the morning heavy downpour.
He gave the commendation on Monday, September 13 while welcoming the students, teaching, non-teaching staff, and school administrators back to school for the new academic session, when he undertook a tour to schools in Etinan, Onna, and Mkpat Enin to equally checkmate Covid-19 protocols compliance, as well as oversee the conduct of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The SA had an opportunity to address members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to schools in Akwa Ibom state. He exhorted them to be focused and committed in their different areas of assignments while familiarising themselves with their new environment.
Udofia restated the commitment of Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s administration to continue the investment in education infrastructure, capacity development, and welfare of school personnel.
He further explained that the reason for the adoption of a uniform academic calendar is to enable proper planning, ensuring that pupils and students attend school for the number of days required to cover the work scheme for the term.

He, however, encouraged school administrators to light up the fire, renew the healthy struggle for success while deploying all reasonable strategies for the protection of pupils/students and school personnel. The SA encouraged the students to be attentive and focused on their academic activities.
On the last academic session, the SA applauded the efforts of everyone in the education sector for the modest success recorded in the 2020/2021 session despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, assured them of government continuous support whenever the need arises.
Some of the schools visited were; St Mary’s RCM School Nkana, Etinan, Comprehensive Secondary School, Ukana, QIC Group School, Ikot Idem Udo/Afaha Atai, Onna, Community Secondary School, Ukam and Esetang High School, Mkpat Enin.
