… tasks teachers, students on commitment to studies
Having known that education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. The Akwa Ibom state government has reassured that year 2022 will be a glorious one in the education sector as the state government has promised to keep improving in providing, adding significant value to the sector to protect the future generation.
This was handed down in the early hours of Tuesday, January 11th 2022, by the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring Akparawa Udeme Udofia while welcoming the students, teaching, non-teaching staff and school administrators back to school for another academic term, when he undertook a tour to schools in Abak and Ikot Ekpene.

Akparawa Udofia, himself an experience school administrator, while addressing teachers at the International Nursery and Primary School,Oku-Abak, decried low turnout of both teachers and students, said such attitude make parents keep their wards in the house.
“He said “I can see that teachers are not physically ready to engage the students, this attitude to some students is wast of time, coming to school doing nothing. Please I want you step up your efforts to make year 2022 a very impactful year.”
At Methodist School, Ikot Abia Idem, the SA frowned at lateness by some teachers, while calling on Principal of the school to enforce discipline on ering teachers to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said as teachers, they should strive to impact positively on the lives of their students, which he said would bring about fulfillment in their careers as teachers, and help their students become better citizen in the future.
“In the spirit of the new year, I want you to bring in new strength and vigor into your assigned responsibilities in order to produce efficient results for yourself and your students.”
He further explained that as a teacher, coming to school without a complete not of lesson,shows unpreparedness, considering the fact that, that is the only source of lifelihood to the family.
Another school administrator who was part of the tour, Hon. Sarah Esit-Ikott, appealed to teachers to always engage the students, as such will keep their brains refresh. She called on parents to release their wards for school,as lectures has commenced in line with state government’s directives.
Ikott added that the state government want to make the education sector in Akwa Ibom globally competitive hence boosting the standard and quality with manpower.

She emphasised that the Udom Emmanuel led administration in the state is strongly believed in the education sector as a vehicle to drive meaningful development to the state government and the people of the state across facets of life, hence the huge investment putting into the sector.
Other schools visited during the visit where; Government School,Abak. Annag People’s School, Obio Nded, and Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Etuk-udo, Abak, among others.
