On Saturday 29th July, 2023, at the prestigious Ibom hall ground, IBB way, Uyo, Rotarian Akan Emah was installed as the 7th Governor of Rotary International District 9142.
The installation ceremony which was well attended by men and women of timbre and calibre across the globe portrayed the indigenous culture, historical values, musical and hospitable lifestyle of Akwa Ibom people.

Members from all Rotary clubs in District 9142; Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu State, registered their presence in grand style as they also complimented by displaying their culture through attire.
The newly installed District Governor whose tenure counted from 1st of July, 2023, said it was an honour to be saddled with the responsibility of leading Rotary clubs in District 9142.
He assured of an effective leadership to foster the growth of Rotary, while emphasizing that there would be increased membership strength, more community services, focus on mental health and support for human development.
Emah, while delivering his speech appreciated his immediate predecessor, Rotarian Grace Okaro, past District Governors, and other dedicated members of Rotary for their supports and contribution to his emergence, he also solicited for more support to deliver, as he takes on the lead.

The immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who was Chairman of the investiture and Hon. Bello Adoke, the Special Guest of Honour, were both represented by Prof. S. T Akpe, (SAN).
Delivering their remarks, welcomed all guests to the ceremony and encouraged them to never waiver but intensify their support to humanity and Rotary’s goal of looking out for a better society.
They also appreciated the efforts put in by members of the club to curb poliomyelitis and other health threatening ailments.
Highlights of the event were; cutting of the bestowal cake, cutting of birthday cake to mark the 2023rd birthday of Mrs Akan Emah, wife of the 7th District Governor, Two categories of awards presentation: The Ambassadorial Recognition and The Gold Service Award to deserving individuals, including the Senator Representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Chief Medical Director of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Prof. Emem Bassey and Mr. Tony Afia, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TAF Media Group, owners of the first private radio and television stations in Akwa Ibom State.
Edu Anthony Offong, Progenitor of Dudu Foundation and born Akwa Ibom daughter, stood out for the Gold Service Award for Humanitarian and Philanthropy services, presented by HE Nyesom Wike.
Edu Offong is also the CEO of Dudu’s Aroma, a popular Restaurant in Uyo, Nigeria.
