LEWA VISITS ITUKMBANG HOSPITAL, DONATES GIFT ITEMS TO PATIENTS
Wives of Akwa Ibom State Lawmakers under the auspices of Legislative Wives Association, LEWA have paid visit to patients of Methodist General Hospital, Itukmbang in Uruan Local Government Area.
Leading the delegation today, the wife of the Speaker, Mrs Itohowo Aniekan Bassey said the visit is to commemorate the Valentine season and show love to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
“February is a month where we show love and we choose to come here and share with patients in Methodist General Hospital, Itukmbang, Uruan LGA.
“This is also in support of the love and care of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel to women and children of the State.
“We are hoping to touch the three Senatorial District of the State.”
Gift and cash items were donated to nursing mothers and expectant mothers in the Maternity Ward of the hospital. In the donated package included; diapers, wipes, flannel, sterilizing unit, clothes and other items needed for newborns.
The nursing mothers included; Blessing Damatius Asuquo; Idongesit Okon Asuquo; Blessing Amah Edet; Blessing Emmanuel Asuquo; and Ekemini Edet.
One of the mothers, Blessing Damatius Asuquo appreciated the members of LEWA for the gesture and thank the Wife of the Governor for the love and care for women in the State. She asked God to continue to bless leaders of the State.
“I appreciate LEWA and I want to say thank you for the show of Love. I thank the wife of our Governor for always loving us not minding our background. I pray God to bless and keep them to always do good for women and children.”
The delegation also stopped by the
Medical and Surgery Female Ward; Male Surgical Ward II; Male Casualty Ward; Children’s Ward and Male Medical Ward.
At Medical and Surgery Female Ward; Uduakobong Archibong Effiong, the daughter of Iquo Archibong Effiong, a patient down with Partial Stroke was overwhelmed by the gesture of LEWA and prayed God to bless the wives of Legislators in the State.
Responding, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Mary Udoh appreciated the team for the visit. She also commended the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for providing the facility for the health need of indigenes in Uruan LGA and its environs.
She seized the opportunity to call on indigenes to maximize the availability of the health facility for their health needs. Dr. Udoh also appreciated the growing awareness and the increasing number of indigenes making use of the facility which is better comparing with the past.
