The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the requirement of National Identification Number for 2020 registration.
According to the Board in a tweet, candidates are to only send their names to 55019 to create profile.
The tweet reads, ” NIN IS SUSPENDED FOR 2020 REGISTRATION. CANDIDATES ARE TO ONLY SEND THEIR NAMES TO 55019 TO CREATE PROFILE. NO NEED FOR NIN FOR 2020 REGISTRATION.”
Recall that JAMB had announced in a tweet that UTME candidates for 2020 examination must provide their NIN as required by the federal government.
” The NIN registration is not a JAMB policy but a directive from the Federal Government as defined in the law establishing National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).”
However, the decision of JAMB to suspend the NIN requirement may not be unconnected to complains of inadequate centers for registration by candidates.
