INOCS Holds 19th National Conference …nominate Moses Ekpo as Chairman advisory council

The International Network of Christian Students (INOCS), on Saturday, November 28, gathered at the multi-purpose Hall of Samlaw hotel, Uyo, to celebrate the 19th edition of her Annual National Delegates Conference and award presentation with the Theme; Developing Entrepreneurship spirit for Self Reliance, National Security and sustainable development.

Addressing delegates, President of INOCS Ambassador Chris Akpan, said the conference is symbolic as it is designed to plant seeds of hope to stimulate and promote entrepreneurship spirit, nurtured self reliance that will enhanced national security and economic development among the youths.
Amb. Akpan described youths as determinant of Nigeria’s future, so energetic and active in the society, carrying endless possibilities in search of where to deployed them for positive changed to thrived. He stressed that education is not enough to put food on the table considering the current economic realities, hence the need to restrategize on business ideas, while calling on government to empowered youths with skills and opportunity to create wealth for themselves.

The International President of INOCS explained that Nigeria is faced with the paradox of simultaneous existence of surplus labour and scarcity of skills due to persistent skills deficiency, ergo the need for the proposed INOCS smart building which according to him will convert lofty ideas into action relevant to the society. Mr. Akpan pleaded with the newly inaugurated Advisory council members chaired by Akwa Ibom State deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo to bring their valuable expertise, knowledge, influence and connection within their specialization to influence the direction of INOCS.

More so, Akpan disclosed that many youths have been trained in various skills, payment of tuition fees as well as settling medical bills to students with financial difficulties courtesy of INOCS.

On his part the Deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo, said the current administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel is working assiduously in providing enabling environment for businesses to thrived.
Ekpo who was speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Pastor Ezekiel Umo, noted that challenges and problems in the business world are inevitable as far as the success journey of a business is concerned. He Therefore, urged entrepreneurs to be resilient and focused towards keeping their values intact no matter the circumstances.

Prof. Edet Akpakpan of the university of Uyo, advised entrepreneurs to not only get an idea and start up a business but also gain the necessary knowledge that could help sustained the business.

The university Don, harps on effective time management as a sinequanon for for successful businesses. Charged youths to look for opportunities to lead in order to developed leadership qualities for future endeavors.

Consequently, Prof. Akpakpan believed for Nigeria to surmount the hurdles of underdevelopment, poverty and dependence on foreign countries, government at all levels must moved the economy from just providing services to a manufacturing and industrial hub like Germany and America, which according to him is a predominant requirements for meaningful development.

Meanwhile, the following persons where nominated as members of advisory council; His Excellency Mr. Moses Ekpo, Prof. Mrs. Margaret Bassey, His Eminence Nteyin Solomon Etuk, Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo, Justice Charles Ikpe and former Dean Of Students, Prof. Effiong Johnson.

Others include, Hon. Friday Iwok, Hon. Ekaette Ebong Okon, Prof. Charles Uko, Dr. Aniefiok Stephen and Prof. Edet Akpakpan.

Others are, Prof. Anthony Akpan, Dr. Atauyo Ibanga, Mr. Abraham Umoh, Pastor. Israel Udo and Amb. Chris Akpan.

High point of the event, was presentation of awards to some eminent personality and unveiling of a proposed architectural model of the international headquarters of INOCS.
