The towering edifice of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Ekpene Udo, the home town of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Sunday, 9th July, 2023, played host to an array of guests who converged for the worship service in honour of the Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno and wife Patience with the theme :”A Man After God’s Heart.”
The Inter-Denominational worship service, jointly organized by the 29 churches in the Ikot Ekpene Udo Village to thank God for the seamless transition which gave birth to the emergence of their illustrious son, Pastor Umo Eno as the Governor of the state, offered Governor Umo Eno and his wife, Patience , the opportunity to thank God for finding him worthy to lead Akwa Ibom people as their Governor, as well as thank their kinsmen for the massive love and overwhelming support.
In her brief remarks at the service, the Governor’s wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno saluted the people of Ikot Ekpene Udo under the different denominations for their support, and for uniting to organize the thanksgiving service in their honour: “My dear husband has said it all. I only want to say to the Pastors, may the Lord bless you all richly. What you did for us – standing by us, supporting us during the campaigns and elections, in prayer and in fasting, I ask that that same God will bless you all in Jesus name, Amen.
“All the Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses, Brothers, Sisters, the Youths of this Church, I salute you all. I want to say thank you very much. I always say that this word thank you is always too small at times. When something huge is done, there’s supposed to be a bigger English word to convey our gratitude but since there’s none, I say thank you.
“The Lord bless everyone. To our guests today who came with us to thank God, I say God bless you. We’re grateful. Thank you very much. May the Lord bless you all in Jesus name. Amen,” First Lady Patience Eno remarked.
Rendering special gratitude to God, Governor Umo Eno, offered thanksgiving songs in the local ibibio dialect to God Almighty who saw him through the election and eventual swearing – in as Governor of the State, and stated that he returned to his homeland to appreciate God, his fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters for standing firmly in support to ensure his emergence.
“We are here to thank God even though Thanksgiving for me is every day. My parents were both from Ikot Ekpene Udo, so we thought it necessary to come back home to say thank you to all who stood by us,” the Governor stated.
At the service, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, and immediate past CAN Chairman in the State, Pastor Ndueso Ekwere, on behalf of the 29 churches in Ikot Ekpene Udo village, honoured the Governor with the “Joshua” Award, while the Governor’s wife received the “Phoebe’ award.
According to the Pastor Ekwere, who anchored the presentation on Romans 16 vs 1- 2, said “the Phoebe Award is a token of appreciation and encouragement to Pastor Patience Eno, to continue to support the Church as a servant of God and her husbands Arise Agenda, targeted at delivering dividends of democracy to Akwa Ibom people. while retaining the virtues of the biblical Phoebe, in providing succour to her husband the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.”
The host of the service and Ikot Ekpene Udo Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Apostle Ezekiel Inyang and his wife, Deaconess Joy Inyang , presented a gift to Pastor Umo Eno and his wife
The women of the church also presented food items to the Governor’s Wife.
The service had in attendance the Deputy Governor of the State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong and wife, the State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Enobong Uwah and wife, Inemesit, members of the National Assembly, State Assembly members, Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Aniekan Akpan and others.
