Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, member representing Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency and chairman house committee on special duties, project monitoring and aviation services has appeal to Akwa Ibom state Government to intervene in the disastrous flood Areas In Obot Idim community.
Hon. Uko made the called during plenary held at the Assembly on Tuesday 23, July 2019 which according to him has put his constituents into untold hardship as a result of force from the water which have the capacity of powering a turbine, has rather unleashed the force on people houses rendering them homeless and also cutting access roads connecting some villages to the rest of the communities.
The Ibesikpo Asutan born politician explained that all water channel in the city are directed to the Area especially, Tropicana Entertainment center and Nsikak Edouk Avenue without any drainage system to protect the water force. In a bid to reduces the suffering of his people and restored their hope, the law maker urge the hallowed Chamber to direct his Committee on works and transport headed by David Lawrence and Hon. commissioner for works to undertake an on the spot assessment to ascertain the level of damages done on people property, call on the state Government to direct the ministry of works as a matter of urgency to reconstruct and Chanel the water to the rightful destination instead of people houses and also call on the State Government to provide lifeline to the affected people of Obot Idim community.
