Ahead of March 11th, 2023 governorship election in Akwa Ibom state, a popular socio political women group, “Uyo Senatorial District Women Forum” (USDWF), has declared total support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno.
The group affirmed their support during a thanksgiving/endorsement ceremony of PDP candidates held at the Ibom Hall grounds, Uyo. January 25.
President of the forum, Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon noted that the forum conducted a thorough assessment of the different candidates for the governorship position, and found that only Pastor Umo Eno has the needed credentials and competence to further on the peace and development strides in the state.
She called on Akwa Ibom people home and abroad to shun money-induced politics and vote for all PDP Candidates, to end poverty, create massive employment for the youths and good governance through his ARISE AGENDA.
According to her, “after due consideration, the women of Uyo Senatorial District have resolved that they have not seen any other candidate worthy of taking over from our father, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel hence our support for Umo Eno.”
She further explained that their decision was well founded on the leadership and enterprising spirit of Pastor Umo Eno who has demonstrated genuine love and commitment to meeting the welfare and needs of downtrodden Akwa Ibomite over the years even as an individual business man hitherto with no interest in politics.
In his response, Pastor Umo Eno appreciated the women for the vote of confidence reposed on him and assured that the women, and Akwa Ibom people in general would not be disappointed.
Pastor Eno who was accompanied by his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno, herself a member of the forum, and the deputy governorship candidate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel has already set a standard for women inclusion in politics, adding that such laudable gesture would be sustained by the next administration.
Speaking on behalf of all the PDP candidates, for Uyo Senatorial District, Speaker of the House of Assembly and Senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom Northeast senatorial district, Mr. Aniekan Bassey, thanked the women for the massive show of support, and assured that they would deliver the dividends of democracy to the district when elected into office.
The two terms lawmaker informed that Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has the prerequisite imperatives expected of the next Akwa Ibom leader, as contained in his ARISE AGENDA, coupled with his lovable personality, and must be elected to pilot the State’s affairs.
The event was attended by party faithful across Uyo Senatorial District, youth groups and supporters.
