WThe Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia and his colleague, Hon. Sarah Esitikot have called on teachers to see themselves as motivators, to help their students attain greater heights while developing a career for themselves.

The duo gave the charge, Tuesday, 11th May, 2021 during their routine school monitoring in Etinan, Nsit Ibom and Eket Local Government Areas. They explained that teachers are closer to students, therefore, should show a good example for them to emulate.
Dissatisfied with the mode of dressing, lack of complete note of lessons and lateness to work by some teachers, the academic administrators warned teachers to dress the way they would want to be addressed by their students, which will in turn add respect to their noble profession, and prepare the students for tasks ahead.

They also frowned at the nonchalant attitude of some teachers, emphasizing that the Akwa Ibom state government through the Ministry of Education will not relent efforts in checking the activities of schools to ensure sound academic upbringing.
Hon. Esitikot bemoaned that poor attitudes to work, as exhibited by some teachers will have a huge negative effect on students as well as reduce productivity and excellence.

Akparawa Udofia on his part advised teachers to ensure they learn new skills that will enhance productivity and better service delivery in the profession while underscoring the role teachers play in the transformation of the sector especially as Gov Udom has declared a state of emergency on education in Akwa Ibom State. He however maintained that hard work, discipline and diligence are the qualities every teacher must imbibe to enable them to groom the students for a better future.

He hailed Governor Udom Emmanuel for identifying challenges in the area of the workforce and his prompt action in recruiting teachers to fill in the lapses.
The SAs who spotted that majority of the students were sharing school desks, pleaded with them to inform their parents/guardians to provide the necessary school materials to enhance their effective learning.
Addressing the Principal and teachers of Girls High School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket, the duo commended them for efforts in keeping up with their primary responsibilities which include keeping the school premises clean.
