The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia has called on teachers to develop the attitude of ensuring they cover the scheme of work lined out for every academic term as a way of laying proper educational foundation for Akwa Ibom children.
Udofia said the idea of teachers ignoring their primary responsibilities will jeopardize the expectations of the state government and present a hopeless situation for the students by not giving them the needed solid educational foundation to prepare them for their future exploration, stressing that the generation of children today require proper moulding, mentorship and counselling.
The governor’s aide noted this during the recent tour of schools within Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Abak local government areas, where he monitored activities of schools in the areas. He called on teachers to complete the scheme of work released to them by the ministry of education in order to follow up academic calendar that has been destabilized by COVID-19 pandemic.
Udofia while addressing the students informed them that Governor Udom Emmanuel is working round the clock in providing both human and material resources to give Akwa Ibom students the best foundation and adviced that the only way of securing their future, is to study hard and lay good foundation for themselves.
He advised students and teachers to strictly adhere to COVID19 safety protocols recommended by health professionals as government will not tolerate negligent of any kind.
In some schools were professional ethics were breached, the SA adviced the teachers to get themselves aquinted with the rudiments of their professional ethics to avoid daily blunders and negative attitude to work.
The SA was accompanied by Barr. Okponganam while monitoring the undelisted schools.
