In line with the state government’s directive to monitor compliance of safety protocols and ensure effective learning in all schools, the Special Assistant to governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia on Thursday, April 22, 2021, embarked on schools tour as the 2020/2021 Academic session commences in Akwa Ibom State.
EThe governor’s aide frowned at the attitude of students and teachers who extend the holiday period for themselves.

He lamented that the unnecessary extension will shorten the period of the term and thereby hamper effective completion of the work load scheduled for the term to the detriment of the students.
He further regreted the ill effect this negligence will have especially on the certificate class whose examination will soon commence.
Akparawa Udofia extended this clarion call on parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards imbibe the culture of attending school from the first day of resumption.

The SA spoke strongly too, against the increasing rate of vandalism of schools’ property by hoodlums, which he heard has also destabilized academic activities.
Akparawa Udofia expressed his displeasure during his routine schools monitoring to ascertain the level of academic compliance by students and teachers, while appealing to communities who are fortunate to have government properties to make good use of them as government will not abandone her core responsibilities to keep watch of facilities which has been built and handed over to communities for effective utilization.

He advised Community leaders, especially the youth and other well meaning community members to be alert and assist in curbing vandalism of schools equipment within their localities.
He however, warned perpetrators of such acts to cease henceforth as government will not fail to deal with whoever is found in the act, according to the law.
Addressing teachers at Government Primary School, Effoi in Eket Local Government Area who were all present as at the time of visit, Udofia explained that the current administration of governor Udom Emmanuel is passionate about giving all Akwa Ibom students quality education and the gesture will only yeild positive impact when teachers give in their best in their primary assignments.
He also informed that government, through State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB has concluded plans to recruit 1000 teachers at the primary school level to boost workforce.
The schools visited were Government School, Ukat Mbak Unno, QIC School, Ikot Ntung, Government Primary School,Effoi, and Eket Modern High School, Ekpene Obo in Eket Local Government Area.
The team also visited National High School, Etebi, and Primary School, Urua Okok in Esit Eket LGA.
