DPR gets new Controller of Operations

The Department of Petroleum Resources, Akwa Ibom State has been decorated with a new Controller of Operations to direct the affairs of the regulatory agency in the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.

He is Dr. Joseph Frank. In an interactive session with Journalists shortly after arriving the state, Dr. Frank who hails from Rivers State promised to use his wealth of experience in the job to put to an end the activities of petrol filling stations who under dispensed fuel to the consuming public. He said that their roles in the monitory and regulating oil and gas activities in Nigeria to ensure compliance with proven standards and global best practices cannot be compromised.
 
Hear him, “Let me thank all the officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources in Akwa Ibom State, I know that we are under staffed but so far I can say, you have done a good work. We will do our best to ensure that our roles in oil and gas sectors are not compromised. We will continue to promote and guarantee a safe, secured, and environmentally sustainable development of oil and gas sector in Nigeria by implementing all policies of government on oil and gas matters. It is our duty to conserve the nation’s rich hydrocarbon resources in our area|”.He stated.
 
He however warned oil bonkers to stay off their activities saying that the effect of their illegal activities has brought untold hardship and health hazard to the people. The interactive session which cut across principal office holders in the DPR availed the staff of the regulatory body an opportunity to appraise the activities of the organization since three years saying that DPR in Akwa Ibom State has been able to discharge its functions effectively over the years. The staffers who all celebrated the arrival of the new Controller of Operations Dr. Joseph Frank promised to give him maximum cooperation and needed understanding in the discharge of his duties for him to successful hit the ground running.
 
According to one of the staff who did not want his name in print, “the DPR in the state has closed a lot of filling station who have contravened our rules, we have charged some people to court and even ensure that some who have adjusted their metre to cheat from unsuspected members of the public are made to pay a fine to the government through the bank Single Treasury Account. He charged members of the public not to patronize unlicensed filling stations while calling on the joint effort of the National Orientation Agency with that of the DPR to sensitize the consuming public on the danger of buying adulterated products from unauthorized outlets.
 
The new Controller of Operations Dr. Frank promised to partner the media in the course of his work in the state saying that he will soon embark on familiarization tour to different parts of the State.
