The Accountan General of Akwa Ibom State Pastor Uwen Andrew Essien have charged Internal Auditors in the state not to make themselves a rubber stamp to any public office holder but should take good decision at any given point in time to promote the integrity of their profession.
Essien made the called yesterday during a one day training workshop for Internal Auditors with Government Ministries, Department and parastatals held at the ICT Resource center of the Accountant General’s office, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo on how to refresh their brains to adopt international best practices in their daily routine. Declaring the workshop open, the State Accountant General explained that Auditors should see themselves as custodians of the State fiscal laws, rules and regulations.
“I must say that without the Internal Auditors Stamp’s no document can fly and no decision could take effect, so please keep yourself abreast of the modern trends and practices to help grow your organization, be committed to your work so that you will enjoyed the fruits of your labour after retirement “

The State AG further Advised Auditors not to use force in achieving their aims but should deployed sound communication skills to drive home their demands, He therefore harps on the need to be conscious of the quality of information sent out, in order not to tarnish Government reputation.
Earlier in her address, Mrs. Precious Kingsley, Head of Compliance Unit said the aim of the training was to educates Internal Auditors on the modern trends of the job as well as how to inspect retirement vouchers, she further maintained that the workshop was necessary as it will give them first hand information on matter arising from salary variation report card and many others.
Meanwhile, the was also a lecture delivered by Elder Ekong Udoh on “The Roles Of Internal Auditors On the Checking And Certification Of capital and recurrent Expenditure Retirement Vouchers ” while Mr. Emmanuel James (ACA) spoked on Checking/Certification Of Capital and Expenditure Voucher.
