The Akwa Ibom state Surveryor General, Surv/mrs. Emem Isang (FNIS) has called on parents to help their childrens developed a career in surveying by deliberately choosing it as their courses of study in higher Institution so as to be proficient and self reliant.
Surv. Isang made the called during maiden workshop for women in surveying Akwa Ibom State branch, held at Barth Ebong Auditorium, University of Uyo with the theme, Strategizing For Professional Proficiency . Mrs. Isang explained that the workshop is timely considering the technological advancements in the profession, adding that it will enlighten female surveryors on the need to brace up and keep with the evolving trends in practice to strategically position themselves for effective professional practice to solve people problems.
The number one surveyor in the state charger female surveyors to grow in the profession and reach the peak of their career through registering with Surveryors Registration Council Of Nigeria (SURCON).
speaking on the theme : Strategizing For Professional Proficiency. Dr . M. A Isong (FNIS) giving an insight to the profession said that the must be a profession to have professional to produce proficiency, adding that such can only be achieved where members undergo a rigorous and consistent training, committed to ethical and morals practice not to his own personal aggrandizement but to render quality services to clients.
The University Don maintaind that for practitioners to operate within the tenet of the profession the regulatory body must enforce professionalism without compromising standards, to help members inculcate in them the rudiments of the profession in their quest for proficiency.
Addressing the participants, wife of the Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, who is the Chairperson of the University of Uyo women Association (UWA) Mrs. Rosalyn Essien, charge female surveryors to strive for excellent and competent in competing with their contemporaries at the National.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of Award to the State Surveryor General ,Mrs. Emem Isang in regconition of her outstanding leadership roles and achievements since assumption of office by the state council and also unveiling of excises books to students in support of free and compulsory education in the state. The event attracted surveyors across the country especially female who came out in their numbers to celebrate their profession.
