The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police , Cp Adeyemi Samuel on Thursday 18th, January declared Akwa Ibom as one of the safest State in the Country.
He made this know while addressing the media on the arrest of the 56 suspects on various offences arranging from armed robbery to Cultism and other crimes which most of them have been charged to court and other still under investigation.
The cp recalled that, on 3rd of January, he stated clearly that He will champion a new course of policing in the State which will be in line with the force directive under the leadership of IGP Ibrahim k. Idris, a policing that focused on the people and service-oriented; in line also with global best practise that place emphasis on human right driven policing, intelligence led policing, community based policing and problem solving appraohes as the security architecture of the State is clearly studied and repositioned for the effective service delivery.
He assured that the commencement of full implementation of the community based policing has kicked start as it will geared torwards increasing public confidence on the police and working in partnership with members of the public in a more friendly and accountable manner.
The Commissioner also ensured that strategies has been put in place to ensured that crime rate in the State is reduce to the barest minimum are yielding fruitful result.
Speaking, the Cp, commend the effort and contributions of the press in the fight against crime and criminality in the State through their professional and balanced reporting of crime situations.
Mr. Adeyemi also listed some of his huge achievement since last two week of his assumption in the office as the 23rd Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State. And some of the achievements are;
The recovering of one Toyota 4 runner jeep, one Toyota matrix, three Toyota Camry, one Hyundai Kia, one Highlander (2003) model and assorted items suspected to be used by cultists.
He thank the Governement and the people of Akwa Ibom State for their support to the Nigeria Police and indeed other security agencies toward reducing crime to the barest minimum.
