The Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has today 25th July 2019 dismissed the appeal filed by Barr. Edidiong Idiong, the Ikono/Ini House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 elections and his party, against Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong Udo, the People’s Democratic Party’s Candidate.
The three-man Panel of Justices dismissed the appeal for being grossly incompetent and lacking in merit. The appeal with No. CA/C/NAEA/267/2019 questioned the decision of the lower tribunal to dismiss the Petition filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Edidiong Idiong against Hon Emmanuel Ukpong-udo.
Appearing for the appellant was Eddy Idunikan. Anietie Bassey Esq appeared for the 1st and 2nd Respondent while Kufre Okon appeared for the 3rd and 4th Respondent.
With this verdict, Ukpong-udo’s victory is judicially approved and sealed with finality as the losers cannot make any further appeal to the Supreme Court on the same subject matter.
