COUNCILLORS CONDUCT OVERSIGHT OF NEW PRIMARY HEALTH FACILITY IN IKOT EBIDO OKU COMMUNITY

In a proactive move aimed at strengthening local healthcare infrastructure, members of the House Committee on Works, Transport and Fire Service, joined by their counterparts from the House Committee on Health in the 7th Uyo Local Government Legislative Council, embarked on an official oversight visit to the primary healthcare center in Ikot Ebido Oku Community on Monday, September 18, 2023.

The delegation led by the Chairman, House Committee on Works, Hon. Hilary Udi was received at the project site by the Director of Works, Uyo Local Government, Arch. Emmanuel Ekoh and the Supervisor for Works, Engr. Anietie Sam.

During their tour of the facility, the councillors had a firsthand look at the innovative layout of the building and marvelled at the substantial progress achieved on site. Their unanimous verdict was one of optimism, highlighting the potential for the facility to transform the healthcare landscape in the area.

The Leader of the Legislature, Hon. Ubong Effiong, lauded the visionary leadership of the Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo JP, in addressing the critical healthcare requirements of grassroots communities. This bold step underscores a commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all.

The primary healthcare center currently under construction in Ikot Ebido Oku Community stands out as a beacon of healthcare innovation. Once completed, it will offer fully integrated healthcare services, catering to the medical needs of those within the community and its environs.

The oversight function drew the active participation of members of the Joint Committee on Works and Health, including the Deputy Leader, Hon. Mmenyeneabasi Michael, Hon. Christiana Bassey, Hon. Emem Uduak, Hon. Mkpoikanna Dominic, and Hon. Obong Williams.
