BCDA ENDS FREE ANIMAL FEED TRAINING, EMPOWERMENT FOR SOUTH-SOUTH INDIGENES

To boost the fortunes of indigenes of the South-South Geo-political Zone of Nigeria through Agriculture, particularly in the area of Animal Feed Production, a popular professional firm in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, ” The Border Communities Development Agency ( BCDA), in collaboration with History Nigeria Limited with support from the Federal Government of Nigeria on Tuesday 10th October, 2023 trains hundreds of youths and other participants on various types of Animal Feed Production in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

The Two-Day event which had participats across South South Geo political zone were mainly focused on Animal Feed Production for youth and women was graced by policy makers, stakeholders in the Agriculture Sector and farmers across the zone in attendance.

In his Welcome Speech, MD of History Nigeria Limited Mr. Aniedi Edem said the essence of the training was connected with the low feed production in view of the high demand in the Country. 

Edem informed that feed production is an important part of agricultural needs in Nigeria and Africa due to its high demand. He added that the training was very timely as it will address the problem of low feed production and also put food on the table of the less privileged and curb youth restiveness in the zone.

On his part,one of the trainers Mr. Udeme Udoudo, inform that Ideas is what changed some people’s lives in most cases pages of books. He urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to be school on the rudiments of feed production.

He said “I know this training will change a lot of people’s lives if you take this program serious. I’m very sure this training will put food on the table of many household.”

Udeme thanked the Federal Government, Border Communities Development Agency and History Nigeria Limited for giving them the rare opportunity to transfer knowledge to those he described as major force to learn the trade of feed production.

He however expressed confidence that the exercise will generate solutions that will give more access to farmers in Agricultural Extension Services.

He encouraged youths to take up feed production as both a full time and part time jobs as well as encouraged every family to have feed farms at their backyards, if not for commercial but subsistence purposes.

The well organized training had in attendance the Chairman of Uyo local government area, Hon. (Dr.) Uwemedimo Udo, the Member, representing the good people of Uyo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Rt.( Hon.) Mark Esset in their respective goodwill messages advised all participants in the Animal Feed Production to take full measures of the programme advantage and mastered the art of acquiring the knowledge of learning feed production for animals. An initiative they both agreed will help in reducing the rate of unemployment among the youths and others in the society and thanked the Federal Government and the organisers for the initiative.
