In a heartwarming display of leadership, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, Akwa Ibom’s First Lady, is setting a remarkable example with her unwavering kindness and compassion. According to the Oxford Dictionary, kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate, and Pastor Patience Eno embodies this definition in every way.

In about four months as First Lady, Pastor Patience Eno has not allowed the trappings of her newfound role to define her. Instead, she has demystified the office through her actions, words, and charisma. Her journey in office is a testament to her commitment to serving the people of Akwa Ibom with unparalleled dedication.

Compassion in Action

One of the defining moments of Pastor Patience Eno’s service to the people was her visit to St. Luke’s Hospital in Uyo. During this visit, her kindness was on full display as she reached out to mothers and infants in need. She even went the extra mile by clearing the hospital bills for indigent outpatients, bringing joy and relief to countless families.

A Heartfelt Gesture

Another heartwarming act of kindness was witnessed during her visit to Pope John Paul / VVF Hospital in Mbribit Itam, Itu. At the request of Esop Ibaan Akwa Ibom, Dallas, USA, Pastor Patience Eno extended uncommon compassion to a young lady named Blessing Ekanem, who had been suffering from obstetrics injuries since the age of 13. Without hesitation, the First Lady offered to cover all the medical bills required for her surgical repairs, winning the hearts of Akwa Ibom’s people.

Empowering the Youth

Pastor Patience Eno recognises the potential of Akwa Ibom’s youth to contribute to the state’s economy. In line with this vision, she organised a one-day program focused on empowering youths with skills and promoting entrepreneurship. This initiative, themed “Youth and Entrepreneurial Skills in our Society: Pricing, Bookkeeping, and Branding,” has created a new trajectory for Akwa Ibom’s youth, providing them with valuable training and mentorship opportunities.

Investing in Education

As a mother of the State, Pastor Patience Eno understands the importance of education. She embarked on a tour of foster homes managed by the state government through the Ministry of Women Affairs, including the Divine Children’s Home in Atan Offot and the Correctional Centre in Uyo. Her promise to ensure access to quality education and vocational training for every child underscores her commitment to building a brighter future for Akwa Ibom.

Promoting Health and Well-being

Pastor Patience Eno’s dedication to the well-being of the state’s people was evident in her Exclusive Breastfeeding Awareness campaign. In commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week, she hosted a one-day event focused on raising awareness about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Pregnant women and nursing mothers received valuable information, and hampers and cash were gifted to support them.
