…Inaugurates New Executive As Comr Utomobong Udo Led Exco Bows Out In The 2022 Grand Finale of Health Week

The Akwa Ibom State medical students Worldwide, have throw their weight behind the candidacy of Pastor Umo Eno for the office of the governor ahead of the 2023 general election.
The body declared their support during the grand finale of the Heath week of the Association held Saturday November 19th with an assurance from pastor Umo Eno that the incoming administration in the State will address all the issues affecting medical students including the medical study grant.

The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate in the State, Pastor Umo Eno gave this assurance while addressing the crossed section of medical students’ body in the state in an event to mark the association’s health week and handing over/swearing in ceremony for her new executives.
Represented by the convener “HEAL FOR UMO ENO” Dr Ekem Emmanuel John, who is also the immediate past secretary of NMA, the Governorship hopeful described the outgoing administration as one of the best, adding that he has been following their activities specifically in the aspect of routine health awareness campaigns which he said have made the State proud.

The Governorship Hopeful used the medium to remind the students’ body of his social contract with the health professionals in the state, emphasizing his plans, adding that the issues of students’ welfare and medical study grant will also be addressed.
He specifically thanked the medical students Leaders for endorsing him as their sole candidate and other PDP candidates in the state and solicited for more support while congratulating the newly sworned in Executives.
Earlier in his address, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr Emem Abraham while Congratulating Comr. Utomobong Udo on a successful tenure in office affirmed that his administration has performed so well surpassing all expectations and urged the incoming executives to emulate his leadership style.

The NMA Boss used the opportunity to charge the Medical Students on the need to balance politics and studies as medical training is tedious and prayed that God bless and grant their efforts with success. She also congratulated the newly sworned in executive and whished them a successful tenure in office.

On his part, The Chief Host who is the pioneer president and Father of NAAKIMS WORLDWIDE, Dr Israel Ben described the out going administration as one of the best, he informed that the out going president has made him proud and wished him well in his future endeavors. He however regretted the fact that the medical student welfare have been neglected for some years now but expressed confident that pastor Umo Bassey Eno who is a man of integrity will address all the issues.
While congratulating the newly sworned in executives on their victory at the polls, the consultant General Surgeon assured the new executives of his usual support through out the period of their administration.

Also speaking, the executive President of the Medical Women’s association in the State, Dr Ekaette Mbatt who was accompanied by the immediate past President of the association, applaud the outgoing administration for expressing what she described as competency in leadership congratulated him for a successful tenure in office. She used the opportunity to advice the younger ones in the Profession to develop a habit of always respecting their senior ones emphasizing that such norms is what stands the profession out.

In their separate remarks, immediate past president of the Medical Women’s Association, Akwa Ibom State,Dr Glory Essien, the President of National Association of Residence doctors, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital chapter Dr Hezekiah Jumbo, the NMA Secretary,Dr Usenonong Morgan, Elder Edet UdoAkang, the SA to His Excellency the Governor Comr. Akwaowo Clifford, and The NAAKISS WORLDWIDE PRESIDENT Comr Ubong Ekwere, all congratulated the outgoing executive for a job well done and whished the incoming executive a successful tenure in office.

Earlier in his handing over address, The outgoing President of the Body Comr Utomobong Udo had highlighted several achievements recorded by his administration, some of which are over 6 health awareness campaign/medical outreaches across the State, securing an increase in the state Housemanship slots for indigenous graduating doctors, appointment of over 5 patrons to add to the existing ones, hosting the second edition of the association’s convention to mark the association at 20, launching of the maiden edition of the association’s magazine, award of Scholarships and financial support to over 20 indigenous medical students, humanitarian visit to leprosy hospital to destribute food items for the patients and scholarships to undergraduates from the state government as approved by His Excellency the Governor, he however used the opportunity to call on the ministry of education and The Scholarship board to review the criteria for selection as the CGPA being used as criteria for selection is not an integral part of medical training beyond first year.

The President also used the opportunity to thank people who contributed immensely to the success of his administration, top of the list being the first female patron of the Association who is the immediate past Dean of commissioners and Commissioner for Agriculture as well as The PDP Standard bearer for Ikono/Ini federal Constituency, Dr Glory Edet for granting scholarships and financial support to over 15 members of the association describing her as a mother and the gesture as uncommon. He also thanked the Father of Naakims Worldwide Dr Isreal Ben, the Hon Commissioner for Health Prof Augustine Umoh, his counterpart in Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Hon Frank Archibong, Work and fire service, Prof Eno Ibanga, Permanent Secretary Government House, Dr Nathaniel Adiakpan,Chairman Hospital management Board, Dr Unyime Udoumoh, Past Chairmen of NMA, Drs Ime Sylvester Udo, Bassey Ntekim, Aniekeme Uwah, Nsikak Nyoyoko, Chairman NAGGMDP Dr Enobong Akpan, Secretary NAGGMDP, Dr Ekerette Ekanem, Vice Chairman NMA Dr Aniekan Utuk, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power and petroleum, Dr Valerie Obot, Presidents of NWAN past and present, past Naakims Worldwide President and above all his Excos, colleagues and many others explaining that with their support he can boldly say he is satisfied with his performance and urged all to extend the same support to the incoming Executives.

In his acceptance speech, the Newly sworned in President Comr Idara Ekpuk appreciated all Naakimsites for voting him and the outgoing president for bringing the association into limelight promised to consolidate on the gains made by Comr Utomobong Udo led administration.

High point of the event was official endorsement of pastor Umo Eno as their sole Candidate for next year’s governorship election, administration of oath of office to the newly sworned in Executives, Presentation of Medical Icon Award for the deserving professional and Lunching of the maiden edition of The association’s Almanac.
