Akwa Ibom State government has again warned Secondary school principals and heads of primary schools across the state against extorting parents by collecting unauthorized fees.
This was handed down by Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring, Akparawa Udeme Udofia, on his routine school monitoring exercise in some schools across the state
Udofia stressed that any school head extorting money from parents will be sanctioned according to the civil service rules. This, he said, is to maintain the goodwill of the government toward a sustainable standard of education that has been enjoyed in the state since the inception of this administration.

While commending efforts by some heads of schools, he solicited their support for the Administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel who he said is wholeheartedly committed to the welfare of teachers while also making huge investments in the education sector.

He urged all school heads to keep their pupils /students indoors, saying any school whose students are found roaming the street risks government sanctions.
Udofia mentioned the good works of the state governor in the sector, to included prompt payment of salary, promotion of teachers, and upgrading of infrastructure, which he said has spoken volumes about how the governor takes the education sector and teachers’ welfare.
