AKSCOE MATRICULATES 1,329 STUDENTS

…sustain the good name the institution – Etiebiet

The Hon. commissioner for education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebiet has charged students of College Of Education, Afaha Nsit, to sustain the good name the institution has carved out over the years while joining hands to raise the bar of education in the state.

The Education Commissioner gave the charge during the 30th NCE and 3rd Batch Degree Matriculation Ceremony of the institution, today at the College Sports Ground, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event which matriculated a total of 1,329 students, Etiebiet urged the students to endeavor at all times not to stain the good name which the institution has carved out over the years. She furthered, “matriculantion does not just end with the ceremony, but the belief of developmental process which can only be realized with your cooperation and commitment. This college environment is different from what you had experienced in your primary and secondary schools.

“This is because here, you have a degree of freedom from the watchful eyes of your parents. How you manage this freedom will determine your success or otherwise in this college. The Akwa Ibom State Government is interested in your success as future leaders of our great country Nigeria. As you begin this important step, be focused and disciplined, study hard and pass your examinations. Avoid all forms of plagiarism, cultist, examination malpractices and disobedience to constitutional authorities.”

The commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Lady Rose Bassey maintained that as the institution formally admits fresh students into various academic programme for the new session, students should join hands to raise the bar of education in the state.

In her words,”As a tuition loving governor Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has left no stone unturned towards transforming the education sector for effectiveness and efficiency.” She urged all on the need to support the governor’s lofty goals by partnering with him to achieve academic success.

The education Commissioner further called on all to join hands together to raise the bar of education in the State.

She saluted the Governing Council of the Akwa Ibom State College of Education as well as all teaching and non teaching staff for their efforts in grooming and nurturing the students by giving them the necessary academic backings to not only succeed in their chosen course of study but also to graduate from the school with honours.

Delighted to be at the event, she congratulated the matriculants and wished them a successful surjourn in the great citadel of learning and prayed God to protect all the students of the institution. “God will prosper you, make you a source of pride to your families, to this state and other states you all come from and to our country, Nigeria and to humanity at large,” she submitted.

The well attended event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life.
