The newly appointed Senatorial District Director in the Ministry of Education under the State Secondary Education Board (SUBEB), Akparawa Udeme Udofia has resumed work in earnest in the the Uyo Senatorial District where he heads.
Akparawaw Udofia, an astute administrator and lover of education started an inspection of schools in Uyo Senatorial District on the 8th of January 2024, the date of school resumption for the 2nd term academic session in Akwa Ibom State to access compliance to school resumption policy as enshrined by the State Ministry of Education.
He was particular about teachers/students’ responses to academic activities within the Uyo Senatorial District.
On the resumption date, during the inspection of schools in Uyo, Nsit Ubium, and Etinan Local Government Areas, almost all the teachers were present in school with a good percentage of the student population in attendance. Learning and teaching were observed, but in some schools where student turnout was low, the Director made a passionate appeal to both students and teachers to publicize the commencement of academic activities to the communities in their environs.
The Director in his unalloyed loyalty to the education system appreciated the state government under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno for his commitment to raising the bars of educational standards in the state while reiterating that the free and qualitative compulsory education policy of the state is intact under the new administration. He, therefore, appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their wards to come to school prepared to learn.
At Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo, the students’ turnout was very impressive, and academic activities had commenced in earnest. Other schools visited were; Community Secondary School, Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium, Adiaha Obong Girls Secondary School, Ikot Imo, Nsit Ubium, Etinan Institute, Etinan and the Local Education Council, Nsit Ubium.
