MECHANIC VILLAGE CRISIS: PANEL OF ENQUIRY SUBMITS REPORT, AS UYO COUNCIL BOSS ASSURES EXPEDITIOUS ACTION
The Administrative Panel of Enquiry on Mechanic Village Crisis set up by the Uyo Local Government Council to ascertain the immediate and remote cause(s) of the crisis on September 30, 2022, has presented its report to the Chairman, Uyo Local Government Council, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo for further action.

Dr. Udo received the report from the Panel led by Barr. Victor Akpan at the office of the Chairman in Uyo on Monday, October 24, 2022.
The Uyo helmsman commended the panel members for their efforts and contributions to maintaining peace in Uyo LGA and Akwa Ibom State and expressed happiness that the panel has been diligent in service to the people.

Dr. Udo assured that Council will study the report and the recommendations given expeditiously after which the white paper will be issued, trusting God that when the recommendations are implemented, it will bring lasting peace to the Mechanic Village, Uyo local government area and Akwa Ibom State.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Panel Barr. Victor Akpan commended the Uyo Council Chairman for his proactiveness to shut the facility on the day of the crisis which had helped curb escalation.

Recall on October 4, 2022, the Uyo Local Government Council, led by the Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, set up an eleven-man Administrative Panel of Enquiry to investigate and ascertain the remote and immediate cause(s) of the crisis and recommend measures that would bring about lasting peace in the Mechanic Village and its environs.
The Administrative Panel commenced sitting on October 11 and ended on October 13, 2022, with 14 people appearing before the panel to testify.
