The executive and legislative arms of Uyo Local Government Council have endorsed the aspiration and choice of the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s preferred successor come 2023.
The resolution was made on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, during the monthly joint meeting presided over by the Council Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo after a motion was moved by Hon. Ubong Effiong – Leader, Uyo Local Government Legislative Council and seconded by Mr. Linus Effiong – Hon. Supervisor for Works/Basic Infrastructure.
Recall that Pastor Eno was presented Sunday evening at a well-attended PDP Stakeholders’ Meeting which took place at the Governor’s Lodge, in Uyo.
The two arms of Uyo Local Government reaffirmed the commitment to support the completion agenda/succession plan of the state Governor. All members at the meeting took turns to express their satisfaction with the choice of Pst. Umo Eno, and promised to work assiduously as grassroots mobilizers for his victory at the PDP primaries and ultimately the general elections in 2023.
The Uyo Council boss in his remarks further commended His Excellency the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his quality and visionary leadership which has taken Akwa Ibom State to heights of glory.
He also appreciated the joint Council for the support given his administration since inception while acknowledging the performance of the two arms of the Local Government, which he rated highly.
The meeting had in attendance the Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo; Vice Chairman, Hon. Pastor Sylvia Ekong; Leader of Uyo Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Ubong Effiong; Council Secretary, Mr. Ubong Udofia, all Hon. Councillors, all Supervisors, and Special Advisers.
