As the buildup for the 2023 general elections gathers momentum, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Ime Okon has assured electorates and stakeholders of Ibiono Southern wards 5 and 6 of effective representation with better dividends of democracy.
Rt. Hon. Okon gave the assurance on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, during the ward-ward Campaign/tour of Ibiono Southern wards 5 and 6 in Ibiono Ibom LGA by the Itu/Ibiono Ibom Unity Project 2023 Campaign Council.
Addressing the people of ward 5 at Primary School, Ikot Adaidem, and those in ward 6 at Primary School, Mbiabam / Use Nten, the House of Representatives hopeful for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Victoria Ime Okon appealed to the electorates to vote massively for all the candidates of the PDP in the 2023 general elections for more impactful service to the people.
According to him, all the PDP Candidates who are lined up for the 2023 polls are people with refined experience in public offices.
Hear him; “PDP is a very orderly Party and it sends experienced candidates in public service to occupy sensitive political positions to serve the people better. I was primarily elected by our party PDP because I have legislative experience having served in the House of Assembly for two terms. Please vote for someone who is accessible and reachable. Ibiono Ibom must play a very critical role to usher in the next administration so that we can authoritatively demand and bargain for projects. As a Party faithful, I urge you to vote massively for PDP from the position of the President, Senate, House of Representatives, Governor, and House of Assembly, come 2023.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Campaign Council Chairman, Chief Israel Utit expressed hope in the Candidate, Rt. Hon. Ime Okon, whom he said was deemed the fittest for the position as he has got relevant experience and is worthy to represent Itu/Ibiono Ibom in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
He urged the people of the areas visited to reciprocate the many good deeds of the Udom Emmanuel administration in Ibiono Ibom LGA and Akwa Ibom State by voting for all candidates of the PDP in the general elections.
The DG of Itu/Ibiono Ibom Unity Project 2023 Campaign Council, Comrade Godwin Mbeke while presenting the Candidate for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon to the people said, he is the man the people have widely accepted.
On his part, the Speaker and Candidate for Uyo Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey who was represented by the DG and Secretary of his Campaign Council, Obong Godwin Awah and Hon Ofonmbuk Ukim, solicited more support for all PDP Candidates promising to work hand-in-hand with Rt. Hon. Ime Okon when they get to Abuja to bring more dividends to the people.
The Political Leader of Ward 5, Hon. Etop Idung called for support to PDP noting that it is the only Party which has drawn good to the area as the renovation of classroom blocks and drilling of borehole in Primary School Ikot Adaidem was done by the Party as facilitated by him. He opined that more development and progress will be experienced in the area as the people give support to PDP.
Meanwhile, a political Stalwart in Ward 6 and the immediate past Vice Chairman of Ibiono Ibom who is the current National President of the National Association of Technologists in Engineering and who doubles as the Secretary General of the Campaign Council, Engr. Dominic Udoatan said Ward 5 and 6 are the votes basket of PDP in Ibiono Ibom as they produce 25,000 votes altogether during elections. He called on the people to give total support to all PDP Candidates. He expressed the hope that access roads that will link communities in the area will be constructed as the State Government has started with the award of contract for the construction of the access road from ‘Ikot Adaidem through Obio Ibiono to Ekom Iman.
The State officer of PDP, Mrs Mmeyene Archibong urged the people of the Wards to go and get their PVCs so they can vote in the PDP government from National to State.
Others who spoke in support of Rt. Hon. Ime Okon and other PDP Candidates during the campaign include Comrade Nicholas Andy a former Chairman of Itu LGA, Dr. Iniobong Ene Essien – Chairman of Ibom Airport Development Company Ltd; Isantim Churchill Udoh; Hon. Uduak Godwin; and Hon Joseph Ebu (Ward 6 Councillor).
